Den julianske borg at Grøthornet, Vartdal
Den julianske borg
The Labyrinth

The site is a low, paved labyrinth near Grøthornet on Daleheida, 900 meters above sea level. At such a height, the labyrinth is covered with snow until mid-summer.

Such paved labyrinths are known as "Trojan forts" and are to be found in many parts of Europe. Vartdal is the only place we know of the existence of such a labyrinth between Norway`s northermost county, Finnmark and Oslofjord, and this is the only location to be found so high up in the mountains.

KvernfossenThe Trojan forts date back to the Bronze Age or the beginning of the early Iron Age (1500 B.C. - birth of Christ).
